Warfare Ecology PDF Download. Download free ebook of Warfare Ecology in PDF format or read online by Gary E. Machlis,Thor Hanson,Zdravko Špirić,Jean E. McKendry 9789400712133 Published on 2011-05-29 by Springer Science & Business Media

The purpose of this book is specific and ambitious: to outline the distinctive elements, scope, and usefulness of a new and emerging field of applied ecology named warfare ecology. Based on a NATO Advanced Research Workshop held on the island of Vieques, Puerto Rico, the book provides both a theoretical overview of this new field and case studies that range from mercury contamination during World War I in Slovenia to the ecosystem impacts of the Palestinian occupation, and from the bombing of coral reefs of Vieques to biodiversity loss due to violent conflicts in Africa. Warfare Ecology also includes reprints of several classical papers that set the stage for the new synthesis described by the authors. Written for environmental scientists, military and humanitarian relief professionals, conservation managers, and graduate students in a wide range of fields, Warfare Ecology is a major step forward in understanding the relationship between war and ecological systems.

First Ecology PDF Download. Download free ebook of First Ecology in PDF format or read online by Alan Beeby,Anne-Maria Brennan 9780199298082 Published on 2008 by Oxford University Press

How much do we know about the living world? Enough to predict its future? First Ecology: ecological principles and environmental issues provides a critical and evaluative introduction to the science of ecology. Alan Beeby and Anne-Maria Brennan present a succinct survey of ecology, describing and explaining the relationship between living organisms and their environment. The third edition of this popular book continues to introduce ecology from a human perspective. This view of humanity as part of the ecology of the planet makes the fundamental relevance of ecology to all life science students apparent throughout. First Ecology develops in sequence the core themes in ecology at each level of organisation - subcellular, population, ecosystem, landscape and planetary. Understanding this hierarchy - and the interplay between these levels - is crucial to the environmental decisions our species faces at the start of the twenty-first century. First Ecology is the ideal primer for you to develop this understanding. Biology and Ecology of Pike PDF Download. Download free ebook of Biology and Ecology of Pike in PDF format or read online by Christian Skov,P. Anders Nilsson 9781351645362 Published on 2018-01-09 by CRC Press

This book sets out to bridge the order scales among pike researchers, populations, communities, management, and fisheries. It emphasizes the progress of pike research during the last two decades, during which the order-bridging approach emerged. This framework underpins the text and the message, to convey its importance to pike research and to fish research in general. In addition, a considerable part of the book is devoted to management implications and highlights aspects of human dimensions in recreational fisheries.

Numerical Ecology PDF Download. Download free ebook of Numerical Ecology in PDF format or read online by Pierre Legendre,Louis Legendre 9780444538680 Published on 2012 by Elsevier

The book describes and discusses the numerical methods which are successfully being used for analysing ecological data, using a clear and comprehensive approach. These methods are derived from the fields of mathematical physics, parametric and nonparametric statistics, information theory, numerical taxonomy, archaeology, psychometry, sociometry, econometry and others. Compared to the first edition of Numerical Ecology, this second edition includes three new chapters, dealing with the analysis of semiquantitative data, canonical analysis and spatial analysis. New sections have been added to almost all other chapters. There are sections listing available computer programs and packages at the end of several chapters. As in the previous English and French editions, there are numerous examples from the ecological literature, and the choice of methods is facilitated by several synoptic tables.

Peppers PDF Download. Download free ebook of Peppers in PDF format or read online by Vincent M. Russo 9781845937676 Published on 2012 by CABI

The group of plants called pepper is diverse, containing plants that contribute to the fresh and processed markets and are also used in pharmaceuticals and other non-food commercial products. Peppers developed in tropical regions, but are grown and used in every country where they can be grown and in countries where production is difficult. The book examines peppers from historical, genetic, physiological, production, and post-harvest standpoints following the development of the cultivated crop from the wild type. The diverse examples of pod types that have been developed and their variation in pungency are examined. Production methods, including the importance of fertilization and irrigation are discussed, as are the constraints on production, including pests, pathogens and weeds. Harvesting methods and the post-harvest challenges and opportunities, which exist at a level not found for other crops, will be explored.
